QuickBooks software came into existence with the promise of demolishing the hassle of completing tedious but required financial tasks manually. Since the time it has hit the computer software market, it has created quite a buzz amongst business owners, especially small and medium sized ones. Its unparalleled and exceptional features along with interface, made for novice as well as regular computer users, ensures that it will remain the go to accounts software for quite some time. Another reason for the rising popularity of the software is its customer support team. The team is quite efficient in dealing with all sorts of QuickBooks problems and offer prompt resolution to the users.
Some of the most common errors dealt by them are QuickBooks company file Error H101, H202, H303, or H505. These kind errors usually happen when you try to access data file on multi user mode, that is, when you are trying to access company file which is located on another computer and you would be getting this error code.
Sometime the computer which is hosting company file does not have full permission to share file over network, it may be due to firewall settings.
This usually happens when QuickBooks is trying to access data file and cannot communicate with server when you would have limited access on folder which contains company file. There are several reasons as follows:-
On server computer which contains company file hosting configuration setting are not correct.
Firewall or security setting blocking company file access via shared drive and it’s blocking incoming and outgoing communication.
QuickBooks has issues while obtaining IP address of the system.
Some of services like QuickBooksdbxx or QBCFMonitor services are not started.
You need to make sure server computer which would host QuickBooks company file has full access to folder which contains company file and that folder should have full access for other computers.
To fix issues like H101, H202, H303 or H505 there are few steps which you need to follow.
If each workstation is getting same error then you need to download and install file doctor tool and now you need to advanced settings within file doctor tool, under check and fix network connectivity select QuickBooks is hosted on this computer(Network connectivity only). Now go back and browse QuickBooks file and start diagnose.
Now result should say everything is fine for networking sharing.
Now after that if issue has not been fixed then you need to check hosting.
Hosting should be turned on only on main server computer which would be going to host company file. Go to server computer and now you go to file < Utilities > Click on Host multi user access, if it shows Stop hosting multi user access it is fine on server PC.
Now go to each workstation and follow same steps, If it shows Stop hosting multi user access then please click on it and it would stop hosting multi user as hosting should be on only on server PC for QuickBooks.
Now you need to check security and firewall setting on all stations.
Go to Start > Search > Firewall > Windows firewall and Advanced security. Now you need to create outbound and inbound rules for QuickBooks.
Now create New Rules, Choose Ports and click on Next, Select TCP and now specific local ports box, enter the ports:
QuickBooks 2013 or higher: – 8019, 56723, 55353-55357
Now allow connections.
Now do same for inbound rules.
After all this now go to server computer, Go to folder which contains data file, Go to properties and make sure folder has full access for all users, Now go to security and make sure all users have full access including QuickBooks data base services.
