How Do I Control Who Can See My FB Page's Posts?

As you must know by now, Facebook page is one of the more popular social media channels and millions of people are interacting with other people online through Facebook on a very regular basis. If you are one of those people, you must have gone through the bad effects of sharing a post with an annoying person. Let us discuss how to control the Facebook post visibility though this article.

There are two ways to control who can see your FB Page’s Posts:

  • Limit your post's audience by applying security on your posts
  • Create audience section to choose who can see your post in news feed

If less than 5,000 people like your Page, you'll need to first make sure you've allowed audience optimization for your Page's posts:

  • Click Settings at the top of your Page.
  • From General, click Audience Optimization for Posts.
  • Click to check the box next to Allow preferred audience selection and the ability to restrict the audience for your posts.
  • Click Save Changes.

Limit Audience of Your Post

When you limit your post's audience, you can control the visibility of your post based on audience age, gender, location and language. Only people in the audience you choose can see the post anywhere on Facebook, including your Page.

To limit your post's audience:

  • Click before publishing your post.
  • Click Audience Restrictions at the top, then select the age, gender, locations and languages of the audience you want to see your post.
  • Click Save.

[Keep in mind that if someone shares the post, only people in the audience you choose for the post will be able to see it]

Use Preferred Audience Selection

You can target a preferred audience for your Page's post so that certain people are more likely to see it in News Feed based on their interests. Unlike limiting your post's audience, using preferred audience selection doesn't affect who can see the post on your Page or anywhere else on Facebook.

To use preferred audience selection:

  • Click before publishing your post.
  • In the Preferred Audience section, enter the interests of the people you'd like to reach in News Feed.
  • Click Save.
